Dr. Jeff O'Boyle

I grew up in a suburb of Chicago, Illinois, and received my medical degree from Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine, where I studied from 2010-2014. It may surprise you, but I was actually uninsured during my four years of medical school. Despite being surrounded by hundreds of doctors in some of the best hospitals, I had no insurance and could not find affordable healthcare. This experience, combined with my graduate-level coursework focused on medically underserved populations, contributed to my perspective of healthcare accessibility and health insurance in America.

I completed my postgraduate training in family medicine at Beaumont Hospital in Wayne, Michigan. I am board certified in family medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM) and American Osteopathic Board of Family Medicine (AOBFM), as well as board certified in Addiction medicine by the American Board of Preventive Medicine (ABPM). Following my training and a short-term hospital position, I set out to open my own practice: Beyond Primary Care. From 2018-2026, I served the families and friends through this dedicated direct primary care (DPC) practice in Ann Arbor, Michigan. In 2024, in an effort to win "Spouse Of The Year," I moved with my young family to Coldwater, Michigan, after my wife Amanda, received a local job offer. In 2026, I started Coldwater Direct Primary Care to bring a clinic focused on affordability and accessibility directly to the community where I live.

Outside of medicine, I enjoy an eclectic assortment of activities. I'm an avid audiobook listener- space operas such as The Expeditionary Force, Bobiverse, and Red Rising are always a hit as well as other science fantasy series including King Killer, Harry Potter, LOTR, Licanius, Mistborn, and Gentleman Bastards. You can also find me mountain biking, cooking (and during summer, grilling!) vegetable gardening, chasing around my 6-year-old, Ogden and my 3-year-old, Beckett, or playing card and board games with my spouse Amanda.
