Looking for a Doctor in Coldwater, Michigan? Meet Dr. Jeff O'Boyle

If you’ve been searching for a doctor in Coldwater, MI, you most likely have a few criteria: a compassionate physician, convenient appointments, and transparent pricing.

That's exactly why our practice exists. Allow us to introduce ourselves!

Who Is Dr. Jeff O'Boyle?

Dr. Jeff O'Boyle grew up in a suburb of Chicago and earned his medical degree from Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine. Throughout medical school, he was uninsured; despite being surrounded by hundreds of doctors in some of the best hospitals, he couldn't find affordable healthcare. His view of American healthcare access was shaped by this experience.

He completed his family medicine training at Beaumont Hospital in Wayne, Michigan, and is board certified in family medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM), the American Osteopathic Board of Family Medicine (AOBFM), as well as in addiction medicine by the American Board of Preventive Medicine (ABPM).

From 2018 to 2026, he served families through his direct primary care practice, Beyond Primary Care, in Ann Arbor. In 2026, he started Coldwater Direct Primary Care, a clinic focused on affordability and accessibility.

What Is Direct Primary Care?

Under Direct primary care (DPC), patients directly pay a physician a transparent, flat monthly membership fee for routine and ongoing primary care. The practice does not submit an insurance claim for every visit, phone call, or message. The physician is paid to care for the patient over time rather than maximizing billable encounters for insurance reimbursement.

You’ll work directly with your personal doctor, with no headaches from insurance companies, no copays, no deductibles, and no surprise bills. On top of that, there are minimal wait times and extended appointment times. You and your physician decide what’s best for YOU, leaving the insurance out of it.

What Sets Coldwater Direct Primary Care Apart

  • Here's what members can expect:
  • More time with your doctor. Good primary care requires time. We see 6 to 10 patients a day, while primary care offices that bill through insurance see roughly 23-30 per day. This means we value continuity rather than volume.
  • Easy access (and phone/email access!) We offer same-day or next-day office visits (Monday through Friday) for acute issues, plus after-hours access via phone, portal, and email access to your doctor.
  • Transparent pricing. You’re never left feeling in the dark about costs. Our affordable membership prices are posted on our website, and procedures, blood work, and imaging are offered at low, upfront costs.
  • Wholesale medications and blood work. We offer generic prescription medications through our in-clinic pharmacy, and wholesale blood work can often be done at the time of your appointment.
  • Independence. Insurance companies respond to your complex healthcare needs by creating more complexity: irrelevant quality measures, reporting requirements, logarithmic pathways. At Coldwater Direct Primary Care, we don’t answer to insurance companies, and our sole focus remains on knowing you.

Services We Offer

Your membership covers a wide range of care:

  • Primary care and wellness: acute care (e.g., colds, flu, UTIs, ear infections, joint pain), chronic care (e.g., diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, asthma, and more), women's and men's health, well child visits, and school, work, camp, and sports physicals.
  • In-office procedures: EKGs, skin biopsies, cryotherapy, cut repair, joint injections, abscess treatment, and more.
  • Medical weight loss with medication options and professionally guided results.
  • Mental health care: Evaluation, diagnosis, medication management, and assistance connecting patients with a licensed individual therapist when needed.
  • Addiction treatment and recovery, including medication-assisted treatment and guidance.
  • Labs and blood work done with nationwide best pricing, processed by industry-leading labs.
  • Care coordination, including specialist referrals and hospital follow-up.

What Does Membership Cost?

  • Single member: $89 per month
  • Member plus spouse or child: $159 per month (child must be under 25)
  • Family: $229 per month for up to five people (additional family members are $25 per month)

There's a one-time $150 enrollment fee per household. Agreements are month-to-month, so there are no long-term contracts. HSA and FSA funds can be used toward physician services.

What About My Insurance?

We don't bill insurance, meaning patients with any type of insurance, or none at all, can join. While you may ‘subscribe’ to your government insurance plan, employer plan, or marketplace plan, you can also ‘subscribe’ to our medical membership.

Your health insurance would remain to cover emergency care, hospitalization, specialists, and will often cover tests and referrals ordered by an out-of-network physician.
